Quinn IP Law Shareholder Jean McCarthy Recognized as a “Women in Law” Honoree

NORTHVILLE, Mich., Aug. 4, 2017 - Jean McCarthy, a shareholder, and patent attorney at Quinn IP Law is being recognized as one of the 2017 “Women in the Law” honorees by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

Michigan Lawyers Weekly editorial panel selected honorees, considering a number of criteria, including each nominee’s commitment to excellence in the practice of law; inspiration and accomplishment as leaders in the profession; mentorship of other women; and contribution of time and effort to volunteerism and/or pro bono service.

McCarthy’s diverse legal experience and her substantial background in mechanical engineering have made her a valuable resource and ally for her clients. She joined Quinn IP Law in 2002 and combines her technical expertise as a mechanical engineer with her legal knowledge as a patent attorney. Her clients range from Fortune 500 companies to independent inventors. Her passion for what she does comes through every day. She takes very seriously the responsibility of protecting each client’s innovation and is singularly focused on their success.

In addition to supporting her colleagues, McCarthy gives to the legal industry, the community and supports young women in their educational endeavors. Most recently, the sixth edition of Intellectual Assets Management’s (IAM) Guide, The World’s Leading Patent Professionals named McCarthy to its 2017 listing.

A couple of McCarthy’s charitable activities include sponsoring two children through the charity Unbound, an international nonprofit whose mission is to provide personal attention and direct benefits to children, youth, aging and their families so they may live with dignity, achieve their desired potential, and participate fully in society. She also serves on the Board of Governors of Henderson House, University of Michigan and is a member of the scholarship committee for residents of the house. Henderson House provides housing for female students and assists with their financial needs.

“Jean is smart, exceptionally hard working and an overall talented patent attorney,” said Chris Quinn, Managing Shareholder of Quinn IP Law. “But most importantly, she leads by example with integrity, honesty, and passion.”

Along with the other honorees, McCarthy will be profiled in a special section and recognized during an awards banquet on Sept. 7, 2017.
